Did you know 49% of Americans believe filing a workers’ comp claim could put their job at risk? Or that only 12% of U.S. employees report having applied for workers’ compensation? (2025 Workers Compensation Knowledge Report)

Our Return-to-Work team believe employees should feel comfortable bringing legitimate claims to their employers, which is why we’ve built out an award-winning ReboundPro program that provides wraparound support for employees injured on the job.

The ultimate goal: to help accelerate the employee’s recovery timeline while keeping them engaged with the company in a meaningful way.

The Cost of No Intervention

Employers pay indemnity while employees are out with work-related injuries, which means covering 66.67% of the injured worker’s salary.

The average workers’ comp leave time is six months, so costs can be substantial—especially if an employer is also paying to cover the injured employee’s workload using overtime or a temporary hire. Further, employers sometimes find themselves facing higher insurance premiums down the road as premiums adjust to cover these additional expenses.

Why Return-to-Work Support Matters

There are many objective reasons, but statistically we’ll just share these two: 1) injured employees recover three times faster with modified duty, and 2) employers can see up to a 35% reduction in total claim costs when they support their employees throughout recovery.

How to Help Employees with Return to Work

It can be hard for employers to determine how to accommodate an employee’s short- or long-term needs.

Our ReboundPro team helps by taking a rehabilitation management approach personalized to each employee, walking them through the workers’ compensation process from start (injury) to finish (return to work). The team also works with the employer to explore and create modified duty positions where they may feel there is none. This not only returns the injured employee back to the workplace; this stops the indemnity payments and lowers the cost of the claim.

Sample Client Case Study: A U.S. State

Working with one of our public entity clients, a U.S. state where we manage workers’ comp claims for every state agency, we have 15 case managers dedicated to their needs. Since the state pays for all premiums and salaries, they can’t monitor what’s happening with each employee claim at an agency level. And since the agencies don’t pay the employee premiums or salaries, agency leaders aren’t monitoring the costs on the state level.

RebroundPro helps bridge the silos to: 1) reduce unnecessary expenses and inefficiencies at the payor level, and 2) ensure the employee is getting all the vocational rehabilitation resources available to them.

Our team steps in to help work with each employee to determine what they can do without causing further injury.

This can include:

  • Employer-supported job fit accommodations serving in their existing role or helping in a different capacity (“modified duties”).
  • Matching the employee to a non-profit that can meet work restrictions (“transitional assignment”).
  • Vocational assessment and training for different employment if their current employer can’t accommodate the employee’s long-term work modifications.
  • Education to the authorized treating physician related to the return-to-work process and gives reassurance that the restrictions applied to the injured employee’s work status will be adhered to.
